The reason that art is so important is because it allows us to use our whole brain. Without art, we only use the left side of our brain. We keep track of time and balance our checkbook with the left side of our brain.
But when we begin to engage both halves of our brain, great things happen. We all have a creative side. However, many people do not believe they are creative. That is usually because they have not learned how to use the right side of the brain, the creative side.
There are many school systems that are reducing the amount of time devoted to the arts due to budget cuts. I don’t think the educators have a true sense of the value of art.
